Appeal Procedures


Faculty & Staff

Online
  1. Log into mystate account using a NetID and NetPassword.
  2. Select the Banner Tab -Personal Information and look for the Citation Information and Appeals page.
  3. Select the citation in which you intend to appeal.
  4. Provide all the requested information and submit the appeal. Once you have correctly filled out the information, you will be notified that the appeal has been submitted successfully.
  5. The faculty/staff appeal board will then make a decision based on the all information
  6. Upon completion of the process, you will be notified of the outcome by mail.

Students

Online
  1. Log into mystate account using a NetID and NetPassword.
  2. Select the Banner Tab - Personal Information and look for the Citation Information and Appeals page.
  3. Select the citation in which you intend to appeal.
  4. Provide all the requested information and submit the appeal. Once you have correctly filled out the information, you will be notified that the appeal has been submitted successfully.
  5. The appeal board will then make a decision based on the all information, and the decision is communicated to the student via e-mail.
  6. A $5 appeal processing fee is charged to each students account if the appeal is denied by the board.
In Person

1. Go to my.msstate.edu
2. Click drop down icon in top left corner and select “classroom” from the options.
3. Under Canvas Course Self Enrollment on the right side of the screen, click the drop down menu titled “Select a course...”
4. Click the Student Ticket Appeals option.
5. Once you are in the Student Ticket Appeals Module, select the calendar option on the left side of the screen.
6. Make sure the “student ticket appeals” is the calendar you are viewing.
7. Click “find appointment” on the right side of the screen. Multiple appointment options should show on the calendar.
8. Select a time on the calendar that you will be appealing the citation via webex and include your ticket number and netID in the comments section.
9. Click “reserve appointment’ at the bottom of the pop-up.
10. In the comments section, please include your netID and ticket number.
11. You will receive a Web-ex link and meeting invite in your outlook email account on the day of your appointment. When your appointment time comes, please click the link and wait for the meeting with the Ticket Appeals office to begin.

Appeal meetings usually last between 10-15 minutes so please plan accordingly.
If you make an appointment and miss the meeting, it is your responsibility to reserve another appointment. If the new appointment does not fall within the 14 day deadline, you will not be able to appeal the ticket.
